Position Summary
Provides a pleasant, professional, and helpful experience for patients and visitors while maintaining the ability to multi-task throughout their transaction. Responsible for scheduling and registering patient visits and obtaining required scheduling information while interfacing with patient care departments to provide information regarding patient access.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL:
(70%) Schedules/Registers/Pre-Registers patients accurately and completely.
(10%) Obtains required pre-authorizations when needed.
(15%) Works assigned reports/work queues.
(5%) Interfaces with patient care departments to provided information regarding Patient Access.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out patient accounting functions as required.
Provides coverage in all Patient Access areas.
Regularly conducts inventory and orders supplies when needed.
Scan documents into EPIC when needed.
Maintains positive customer relations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Required to pass the Office Workers Test.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement as required by the Hospital and the job description.
Understands and is accountable for Hospital's customer service standards.
Must be able to use standard office and data processing equipment as necessary in performance of duties.
Must have successfully passed office workers test.
Must be able to type 40 WPM adjusted for errors.
Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MidMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
